Intermediate Acoustic Guitar Course - Part 2

The second part of this course starts out by introducing you to the Capo. After a quick critical survey of the main types of Capo available, we talk about exactly why and how to use the Capo to change the key or the sound of what you are playing.

The course in detail...

Expert step-by-step guidance provided. All you have to do is follow the instructions on each video, and we'll show you, step by step, how to:

  • Apply strumming, timing, accentuating, missing and muting techniques as taught in part one of the course.

  • Make your playing more professional sounding by separating out and then linking the bass notes of the chords.

  • Create interesting effects by applying the ornamentation techniques.

  • Understand when and how to use the Capo to change the key of any song to suit the singer.

  • Use the Capo in a creative way and explore how using different chord shapes help you change the feel of a song without changing the key.

  • Overcome the physical problems associated with using barre chords.

  • Learn a simple system to help you identify and find barre chord shapes to play 72 different chords.

Prerequisites and expected outcome

This course follows on immediately after the Intermediate Acoustic Guitar Course - part 1 and is not for complete beginners.

  • Coping with the CAPO: This second part of the course starts out by introducing you to the Capo. After a quick critical survey of the main types of Capo available, we talk about exactly why and how to use the Capo to change the key or the sound of what you are playing.

  • Application to songs: we then immediately show you through a couple of classic songs that you would normally use the Capo for: Dylan’s ‘All Along the Watchtower’ and Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’. These songs are taught in great detail on this course.

  • Breaking the Barre Chord Barrier: Playing Barre chords can present several difficulties to the intermediate guitarist. We show you how to overcome the physical and mental problems associated with this vital skill. Learn to play 72 new chords in one lesson!

  • Learn new songs …and new ways of playing old songs! Then it’s back to specific songs selected to help you consolidate the techniques and skills taught throughout both halves of this course. To introduce you gently to using barre chords there’s Dylan’s ‘Simple Twist of Fate’ and we wind up the course with Otis Redding’s all time great: ‘Sitting on the Dock of the Bay’.

  • By the end of the course, we guarantee that you will have improved your acoustic guitar playing beyond all expectations and formed the foundations to go on and develop your own unique way of expressing yourself on the instrument.

  • The video content is supported by printouts, both of rhythm charts for the songs that are studied on the course and useful reference material that is yours to keep.

  • Prompt, friendly support available if required. We do all we can in the design of these lessons to anticipate every question or problem that each individual student may have, but of course we know this is impossible. So please, if you have any difficulties at all following this course, or any questions that the materials don't seem to answer, email us for support - we are always pleased to hear from you!
